Frequently Asked Questions
How long do these epoxy flooring systems typically last?
Professional-grade epoxy flooring is designed for longevity. In residential settings like garages, a properly installed system can last 15 to 20 years with minimal maintenance. In heavy industrial or commercial environments with high traffic, they generally last 10+ years.
Will hot tires pick up or peel the coating in my garage?
No, this is a common issue with DIY store-bought kits, but not with our industrial-grade systems. We use high-performance primers and base coats that bond chemically with the concrete. Our coatings are specifically engineered to resist Hot Tire Pickup.
Are epoxy floors slippery?
Standard high-gloss epoxy can be slippery when wet. However, safety is our priority. For areas like garages, commercial kitchens, or walkways, we add an anti-slip aggregate (grit) into the topcoat. This provides texture and traction without compromising the look or ease of cleaning.
How long does the installation process take?
Most epoxy system installations take 2 to 3 days to complete. Day 1 involves surface preparation and repairs. Day 2 is for the application of the base coat and broadcast. Day 3 involves the final UV-stable topcoat. You can typically walk on the floor after 24 hours and park vehicles after 48-72 hours.
What is the difference between Standard Epoxy and Urethane Cement?
Standard Epoxy is excellent for general use (warehouses, garages) and offers great protection. Urethane Cement is an Extreme Duty system designed to withstand thermal shock (extreme heat/cold), heavy impact, and bacterial growth, recommended for commercial kitchens and food processing plants.
Can you install epoxy over cracked or damaged concrete?
Yes. Preparation is critical. Before applying any coating, we repair cracks, divots, and spalling using specialized fillers and mending agents. Once the repairs are ground smooth and the coating is applied, the imperfections are hidden, leaving a seamless surface.
Is the floor difficult to maintain?
Not at all. Epoxy floors are seamless and non-porous. For routine cleaning, use a dust mop or soft bristle broom. For deep cleaning, a mop with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner (like Simple Green) is sufficient. You never need to wax or polish these floors.
